Did Jesus want us to give our money to an organization called “The Church”? Or did he want us to give to the church? Many preachers want us to give finances to an organization instead of giving to the body of Christ. It’s time we change how we practice Christianity.

Let’s stop paying others to do our Christianity for us.

Scripture Reference:

Matthew 6:3-4

“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Acts 2:45

“Selling their possessions and goods, they shared with anyone who was in need.”

Acts 4:35

“There were no needy ones among them, because those who owned lands or houses would sell their property, bring the proceeds from the sales, 35and lay them at the apostles’ feet for distribution to anyone as he had need.”

2 Corinthians 9:12

“For this ministry of service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanksgiving to God.”

1 Timothy 5:17-18

“Elders who lead effectively are worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. 18For the Scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,”a and, “The worker is worthy of his wages.”b

1 Corinthians 9:11-12

“If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much for us to reap a material harvest from you? 12If others have this right to your support, shouldn’t we have it all the more? But we did not exercise this right. Instead, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ.”

Luke 10:5-7

“Whatever house you enter, begin by saying, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. 7Stay at the same house, eating and drinking whatever you are offered. For the worker is worthy of his wages.b Do not move around from house to house.”

Acts 20:33

“I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. 34You yourselves know that these hands of mine have ministered to my own needs and those of my companions. 35In everything, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

2 Corinthians 2:17

“For we are not like so many others, who peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as men sent from God.”

2 Corinthians 9:7

“Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not out of regret or compulsion. For God loves a cheerful giver.a
